Accessibility Happenings!

describing what accessibility is

There are lots of Happenings going on in the news that are shining a positive light on the world of accessibility. According to the wonderful Disability Scoop news, a major feature film this summer will star Zach Gottsagen, who lives with Down Syndrome. "The Peanut Butter Falcon" also stars Shia LaBeouf and Dakota Johnson. This is a big win in the world of accessibility, and it's sure to be a heartwarming and uplifting film. Other great strides in the accessible world include DANCING THE NIGHT AWAY!

Baltimore Maryland now has the first ever, probably in the nation, Night Club for Adults needing more support! Get Down!!

According to the Baltimore Sun, this Night Club fosters friendship, love and inclusion. Club 1111 has a lounge with "mocktails," a spa to get your hair and nails done before hitting the dance floor, and even has a nurse staff and EMT, for any emergencies.

Night Club goers mention feeling free & safe to be themselves, and great sense of friendship and connection with the other 503 attendees, and some even find romance.

The head of the night club Greenberg and advocates had this to say, "the ultimate goal is full inclusion, meaning people with disabilities should be integrated into all aspects of life. But there are issues like stigma and medical problems that can make that tough. None of that matters here."
